THE GROUP PRACTICE OF KATE FRANZA LCSW,CADC-II
Serving California and New York State
Welcome and congratulations. You have made it through the hardest part by deciding to find a therapist. Maybe you are going through a major life change, struggling with your relationship or with understanding your sexuality. Perhaps you've attempted to stop using substances and haven't been successful. These are just a few examples of why people choose to find a therapist. Every experience is individual and therapy can't come in a "one size fits all" approach. Harm Reduction means that we set goals at a pace that works for you. Almost any of life's challenges can be approached with a harm reduction philosophy, it is not limited to treating substance use. If you want to break patterns and reduce negative behaviors, a harm reduction approach allows you to make change at a comfortable pace. I will provide you with the right tools, so you will begin to trust that ALL feelings pass and that THIS is manageable.
“Note that this journey is uniquely yours, no one else's. So the path has to be entirely your own"

ABOUT ME
My name is Kate Franza and I am a licensed therapist, practicing in both New York and California.
I strongly believe that the relationship between a therapist and a client needs to feel like a partnership, where we work together to determine your goals.
I collaborate with my clients to help identify barriers to wellness, reduce suffering and allow clients to gain a deeper understanding into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors through the process of self exploration.
I have extensive experience working with members of the LGBTQ community, with a special focus on members of the trans community. I am a credentialed substance use counselor, and specialize in working with adults interested in reducing the negative consequences associated with their substance use. I have a deep understanding of the complexity of a dual diagnosis and the biological, emotional and physical aspects of substance use. In addition to my private practice, I am currently the Director at an LGBTQ healthcare organization.
